Can the water you drink affect the condition of your skin? Absolutely.

So how much is enough?

Your body weight, and activity level play a part in the determination of the amount of water needed to maintain proper hydration. Other factors include the dryness or oiliness of your skin. If your skin is dry and tight feeling, then increasing your water intake will give your skin a more supple and youthful appearance. Oily skin is the result of your body producing oil to protect and nurture the skin. If your apply harsh chemicals and treatments to your skin, the body will produce more oil to maintain the protective layer the body needs to keep out bacteria and germs from entering the body.

So how much do you need? Each of us has different needs and based on our level of activity and environment requires different amounts of water. The best rule to go on is to start with 8 eight-ounce glasses a day. And adjust the amount based on how your skin reacts. Many people find that their optimum hydration is best achieved when consuming 10 to 12 glasses a day.
