Facial Redness May not Always be Rosacea

The following other conditions can have symptoms similar to rosacea:According to the American Academy of Dermatology, Acne is the term for plugged pores (blackheads and whiteheads), pimples, and even deeper lumps (cysts or nodules) that occur on the face, neck, chest, back, shoulders and even the upper arms. Acne affects most teenagers to some extent, but can also affect adults in their 20s, 30s and 40s. While there is no permanent cure for acne, it is controllable.According to the American Academy of Dermatology, Psoriasis causes the skin to become inflamed, while producing red, thickened areas with silvery scales. This persistent skin disease occurs most often on the scalp, elbows, knees, and lower back. In some cases, psoriasis is so mild that people don't know they have it. At the opposite extreme, severe psoriasis may cover large areas of the body.According to the American Academy of Dermatology, the word Eczema is used to describe all kinds of red, blistering, oozing, scaly, brownish, thickened, and itching skin conditions. The word atopic describes a group of allergic or associated diseases that often affect several members of a family. These families may have allergies such as hay fever and asthma, but also have skin eruptions called Atopic Dermatitis. The disease can occur at any age, but is most common in infants to young adults.Eczema/Atopic Dermatitis in infants occurs mainly on the face and scalp, although spots can appear elsewhere. In teens and young adults, the eruptions typically occur on the elbow bends and backs of the knees, ankles and wrists and on the face, neck and upper chest.According to the American Academy of Dermatology, Poison Ivy Rash is caused by a substance called urushiol, found in the sap of Poison Ivy, Poison Oak and Poison Sumac. In those who are sensitive, urushiol causes a reaction in the form of a line or streak of rash (sometimes resembling insect bites) within 12-48 hours. Redness and swelling will be followed by blisters and severe itching. In a few days, the blisters become crusted and begin to scale. The rash will usually take about ten days to heal, sometimes leaving small spots. The rash can affect almost any part of the body, especially areas where the skin is thin.Insect Bites and Stings can produce local inflammatory reactions that may vary in appearance. Acute reactions may appear as hives; more chronic reactions may appear as inflammatory papule (circumscribed, solid elevations on the skin) or may be characterized by a blister or blisters."The key to controlling rosacea is awareness and early intervention," Dr. Joseph Bikowski said. For the complete article you may want ot visit:http://www.internationalrosaceafoundation.org/

View Pictures of Pesulting IPL Skin Damage

Had IPL for redness over a year ago. It melted my fat cells. It put dents in my skin. The more I search online, the more people I come across who have suffered dents from IPL. I had the Lumines machine only once at low settings.
http://photos.yahoo.com/cheekless2004 Before and after. My cheekpad also fell a bit. The dents appeared gradualy in the weeks and months post - as they do with thermage victims.

Rosacea Cure

Dr. Thomas Bateman in 1812 stated: “The perfect cure for rosacea is, in fact, never accomplished.” We have often been told; “there is no cure for rosacea”, but does it have to be this way? Proper management of rosacea can be a cure in itself. In cancer, the term sure is never used but instead one goes into remission and with proper care, remission can last a lifetime. If rosacea can’t be cured, can we at least attain remission?

The Emergence of Pre-Rosacea

Pre-Rosacea:Dermatologists now recognize an early prelude to rosacea termed prerosacea. Prerosacea is the earliest noticeable stage of rosacea. Signs of this early stage of rosacea include frequent episodes of flushing or redness of the face and/or neck that come and go. Things that can cause an episode are exposure to the sun, emotional stress, alcohol, spicy foods, exercise, cold wind, hot foods and beverages, and hot baths. Again, each person is different and what might affect one person might not bother the next.

G. Nase Responds to his Demodex Remarks

Geoffrey Nase was asked: I noticed your posts of May 9 and May 10 on the rosaceans.com site concerning the fact that you had two men associated with skin> products mixed up. You stated the following: "Initially I thought Dr. [Zhangguang] Zhoa was associated with Demodex Solutions. He is a nut case. He claims cures for rosacea, acne and hair loss. That was my mistake. Way back when, I actually tried out his antidemdoex cream and it just irritated my skin so I stopped." In another post, you make the following distinction between these two individuals: "1) Dr. Zhangguang Zhoa is the one who makes the outrageous cure> claims for three disorders that are not even close to a cure. These claims cause this gentleman to lose all credibility with his peers and patients. 2) Dr. Zhoa Zhongzhou is the inventor of Demodex Solutions" Evidently, these are two very different people, with similarnames. You have made some very critical comments concerning Demodex Solutions on this board. It appears you made at least some ofthese comments thinking you were criticizing Zhangguang Zhoa, the person who have described as a "nutcase." Now you seem to realize that this man is not associated with Demodex Solutions. Now that you realize you were mixing up these two people, I wonder if you still feel as critical of Demodex Solutions as you did.

Nase's response: Good question. I did mix up the names because they where both Dr.Zhoa. The one claims cures for 3 uncurable treatments and the otherclaims cures for two uncurable treatments. So, yes, I do feel ascritical of Demodex Solutions. They claim a 90% cure rate with acneby getting rid of Demodex (demodex is not involved at all with acne)and they claim "a near 100% cure for rosacea". It may help 20% to30% of rosacea sufferers, but even in that small percentage it doesnot induce a cure in anyone. A cure is when you get a treatment orseries of treatments and then the disease is gone. No moremaintenance, no more triggers, never again to worry about thedisorder. The claims are outrageous and throws a lot of confusioninto an already messed up disorder. My main complaint......isplease just tone down these claims and totally remove acne from thescene. So, two different Zhoas, but the same misleading claims. Now Istart to see demodex take over this board and that is unacceptable.Be open to treatments, but not gullable. And if you are a businesssalesmane associated with the company, then put it up there as an alternative option for some select cases, but in no way should they have the right to say, "Near 100% cures for rosacea".

An Effective Rosacea Treatment

An effective rosacea treatment must begin with an understanding of what causes or influences a rosacea flush. Effective skin care for rosacea must address the flushing issues. Rosacea sufferers have more facial blood vessels than the norm, or their blood vessels are severely damaged. Consequently, anything that stimulates facial dilation cannot be handled easily or properly.

What is Acne-Rosacea?

The term "acne rosacea" first appeared in an English medical text by Dr. Thomas Bateman in 1812, who noted: "The perfect cure of acne rosacea is, in fact, never accomplished." Other 19th century references commonly listed rosacea among the different forms of acne. Finally in 1891, Dr. Henri G. Piffard, a professor of dermatology in New York, called for distinctions among different forms of acne to more truly differentiate symptoms.Today, dermatologists have learned that rosacea is a different disease from acne, and that therapy for acne can often make it worse. Although the precise cause of rosacea is still unknown, most experts believe it is a vascular disorder that seems to be related to the flushing of rosacea.Research has also dispelled the centuries-old myth that rosacea is caused by heavy consumption of alcohol. While alcohol may aggravate rosacea, the symptoms of rosacea can be just as severe in one who never consumes alcohol.
